“I have been associated with Steve Matthews for close to 20 years. During this time I have always found him to be very practical in his design work, as well as very artistic. It is very hard to find a balance in these two attributes among yacht designers. Some draw boats that work well, but are hard on the eyes. Others draw boats that are so far out that you struggle to build them. Steve is right in the middle. Another noted designer friend of mine once told me that, once someone asked him what it takes to be a good yacht designer.
